We are at a point in our vacation where we have accumulated a few things that we miss about home. Number one is definitely reserved for FRIENDS. Chatting on the phone, which costs about $3.00 a minute from here, or simply being together. The Internet, while convenient, is a poor substitute for proximity.

Viva Le Europe
So this is what really
happened. Jain has got all philosophical lately, but here is the scoop. Our
discussions at home have been about living abroad for extended periods instead
of spending so much money traveling and airport layovers. We have in many
previous trips talked with travelers that live in the U.K. or other European
countries and they seem to spend so much less time and money traveling than we
do. Two hundred Euros can get them to the same place that costs us $2,200 USD.
So we have been looking for other affordable countries that we can visit while
we are in continent. Spain, Greece, Italy are all within just a few hours of
where we are staying in France and transportation costs are relatively
inexpensive. So it remains undecided but with a few changes in our planning and
preparations we could possibly be gone from home for three months. Cancelling
the air reservations for our trip to Greece in May would certainly offset the
cost of staying in Europe for the month of April. We shall see.

Tired Feet
Today, to celebrate Jay's birthday we went on a 3 hour walk from Menaggio to Rezzonico (It turned out to be longer). My dogs (feet) are tired. The walk... no it isn't a walk it should be called a hike, is officially called "The Antica Regina". This path was built by the Romans and in its day was an important connection on the west side of Lake Como and the Alpine passes. (Is there any place where the Romans didn't go?)
