So this is what really
happened. Jain has got all philosophical lately, but here is the scoop. Our
discussions at home have been about living abroad for extended periods instead
of spending so much money traveling and airport layovers. We have in many
previous trips talked with travelers that live in the U.K. or other European
countries and they seem to spend so much less time and money traveling than we
do. Two hundred Euros can get them to the same place that costs us $2,200 USD.
So we have been looking for other affordable countries that we can visit while
we are in continent. Spain, Greece, Italy are all within just a few hours of
where we are staying in France and transportation costs are relatively
inexpensive. So it remains undecided but with a few changes in our planning and
preparations we could possibly be gone from home for three months. Cancelling
the air reservations for our trip to Greece in May would certainly offset the
cost of staying in Europe for the month of April. We shall see.
Jain didn't mention that
we are sitting in the first cabin on the flight from Salt Lake to Paris,
largely due to the number of miles that I flew while working for the software
company and my "Elite Plus" status with Delta. We have been upgraded
for no additional cost as the economy section of the flight was oversold and
very few of the $10,000 seats were sold. The upgrade rules clearly state that
our original seats are not eligible for upgrades on international flights, but
we have been exceptionally lucky with this kind of upgrades. I will leave it to
Jain to tell you how much she is becoming accustomed to the front of the
airplane. For now, I am going to hit the switch that converts my seat to a flat
bed.
Good Night. See you
again tomorrow.
Jay
